Seredipity!
This morning – a few hours before the spin – I pulled ‘Anderby Wold’ by Winifred Holtby from my Virago bookcase, to read for All Very Virago All August.
I love Winifred Holtby, but because she didn’t write many books I’m trying to spread them out. But I decided it was time.
And the spin agreed with me:
#17 – Anderby Wold by Winifred Holtby
I couldn’t be more pleased!
How was the spin for you?
The Spin spun me Katherine by Anya Seton… which is awesome since it’s been in my TBR forever… hope you have fun!!
Have you read Holtby’s journalism? If not I really do recommend the collection ‘Testament of a Generation’.
What wonderful timing! Enjoy!
It sounds as if the spin has chosen the perfect book for you this time! I loved South Riding and The Land of Green Ginger but haven’t read this one yet.
Oh I loved Anderby Wold, it’s a remarkable early novel and certainly shows the writer she became I really enjoyed it.
What a lovely bit of synchronicity! I hope you enjoy it.
Very fun! I’d never heard of this one, so thanks for the introduction!
I’ve not heard of Winifred Holtby at all so I’m very interested in your spin winner, I look forward to your review.
I love the cover! I’m sure you’ll enjoy this book – it’s obviously the right book at the right time for you. My spin book is Gulliver’s Travels, which somehow I’ve missed reading for years.
Great timing and nice result! I hope you enjoy it.
Wonderful choice! I’m reading a non-Classic (I decided to be a rebel) and I’ll be reading Kate Morton’s The Secret Keeper.
Oooh, lovely! I loved South Riding. I’ve also read The Land of Green Ginger, which I didn’t love quite as much, but I did find entertaining; and The Crowded Street, which I liked more. Anderby Wold is on my to-read list, so I look forward to reading your thoughts.
My spin pick was One of Ours by Willa Cather, so I’m looking forward to it.
