I hope you don’t mind me talking to you from my armchair. It’s very cosy and if I look up I can see what’s going on in the garden. I’ve been on snow watch but we haven’t had any at all. Have you?
I haven’t done a blog for a while and Jane is quite busy with her new job, so I thought it this might be a good time for another round of my game.
We’ve done it before, once or twice, so you might remember how it works but I’ll explain it again, just in case.
We think of a person with a lovely blog, we pick five books from our shelves to represent that blogger, we take a picture and make a list, and then you get to guess who it is.
It could be you! Have a guess in the comments! Or if you can’t guess have a look in the sidebar and follow a link to someone you haven’t met before. You might find an answer and you will definitely find a lovely blog.
Here’s the first one:
Man About The House by Francis Brett Young
Some Tame Gazelle by Barbara Pym
The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy
Manja by Anya Gmeyner
Tom-All-Alone’s by Lynn Shepherd
Here’s another:
Snake Ropes by Jess Richards
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce
Broken Harbour by Tana French
And here’s the last one for this round:
Love of Seven Dolls by Paul Gallico
More Women Than Men by Ivy Compton-Burnett
Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead by Barbara Comyns
Miss Hargreaves by Frank Baker
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
And now I am going to snuggle up and have a sleepy.
But I’ll be back to look at the guesses, and I’ll tell you the answers in a few days.
Maybe the first pile is Thomas of ‘My Porch”?
It could be, but it isn’t.
I too think the 1st. is Thomas at My Porch. I don’t know who the 2nd. is. I think the 3rd. one might be Simon at Stuck in a Book.
No to Thomas but yes to Simon!
Not sure about the first two but the third has to be Simon!
Of course it is! I did filter out one or two obvious books (The Provincial Lady, The Love-Child, Guard Your Daughters) but ut still had to be him.
I have no idea, but I’d like to share book talk with any of the three! {But now that they mention it, I think Thomas, too.)
You would get on with all three, but number one isn’t Thomas. I’m not sure that he’s read Francis Brett Young, but maybe I missed it …
I’m not sure about the first two, but I agree that third has to be Simon.
It is !
Heehee, it’s me! I’m pretty sure no.3 is me – how I adore those books, and they’re all on my 50 Books You Must Read list. Thanks 😀
As for the others, I’m drawing a blank,,,
Lists like yours are very useful for this, though I did remove a few books that screamed ‘Simon’ very loudly I couldn’t bring myself to take them all way.
Not sure you’ve met no.2 but you really should know no.1!
I think the second one might be Cat from Tell Me a Story. And by the way, Briar, we’ve had lots and lots of snow here this week and I’m glad it’s finally starting to melt!
Well spotted! Still no snow here, just lots of boring rain.
The only one I was sure about was stack #3. That Miss Hargreaves is a dead giveaway! Stay warm, Briar!
I did take a lot of very obvious books out of Simon’s pile, but I had to keep one. But I’m sure you would have spotted him whichever of his favourites I’d chosen.
Hello Briar – you look very comfy. No snow in this part of the world, just lots of summer sunshine.
🙂 I think the second one might be me, too!!
And the first – is it heavenali?
It’s always a good when someone spots themself – we know we’ve got the right books then!. And your other answer is spot on too
Heavenali for the first, Simon at SiaB for the third (no one else likes ICB ;)) and I am *stumped* by the second!
I like ICB – though not as much as Simon! An author who needs the right moment, and to be read in small doses, I think. And yes to both your answers.
The first must be Simon. I want to know the other two!
All the answers are all in the comments now Gavin, and we’ll announce them ‘officially’ towards the end of the weekend.
No clue, but love the game!
I’m sure you’ve crossed paths with no.2. Official answers will be here at the end of the weekend so you’ll have the chance to visit anyone whose books interest you.
What a fun idea! When I saw the last pile I thought it had Simon’s name written all over it and I can see I was right! 🙂
