It’s Been a Strange Day ….

As it was low tide at walk time we took Briar down to Battery Rocks. She loves playing on the beach, swimming in the sea, climbing over the rocks, sniffing in rock pools …

And while we were down there we met Man on a Beach, who travels around Cornwall’s beaches, filming and asking people what the beach means to them.

This is where he, and we, walked this morning:

You can also see my fiance being interviewed on his site, with Briar and I playing in the background.

I must confess that I retreated hastily, because I was wearing my scruffiest dog-walking clothes, and because it was one of those days when I had to hide unwashed hair under a hat.

I planned to shower, wash my hair, and get into professional mode when we went home, because I had a job interview just a little later in the day.

And, after nearly a year of unemployment, I was offered the job!

It’s not perfect, but it could be interesting, and I need something new to push all of the horrible things that happened with my last employer out of my head.

So now I’m delighted, but I’m also rather scared. And I am not going to be able to settle to write anything coherent tonight.

But hopefully soon …

  1. Well now you’ve done it: set up a great yearning to see Cornwall again and to stand by the sea, inhaling the wonderful air. I thoroughly enjoyed the clips. Best of all was the news about the job. It will be strange at first, being back at work after a hiatus, but once you get your sea legs again, off you’ll sail. I played the clip twice, just to hear the lovely Cornish accent.

  2. Adding my congratulations – hopefully even if it isn’t a perfect fit, it will bring good things, and maybe lead to something else.

  3. Congratulations on the new job, I hope everything turns out well for you. Your bit of the coast seems amazingly similar to mine on the video, except the ‘lumps’ in the distance are the Bass Rock and North Berwick Law.
