“I’d read all the romance novels stashed in the guest bedrooms, from Lady Rose and Mrs Memmary to the intriguing Miss Buncle’s Book and the more troubling Cheerful Weather for the Wedding, but all the novels stopped at the crucial point; the wedding itself, and what came after remained terribly intriguing …”

Now what could be more lovely than arriving in an English country house and finding such lovely books waiting for you?
I have a proof copy so I shouldn’t really be quoting, but I just couldn’t resist.
This reminds me of when I used to take holidays in rented cottages. There was always a library of books left by previous holiday makers and it was fascinating to delve amongst them and see what unexpected pleasures could be found. Very useful too, when you run out of the books you have had room to pack yourself.
Oh how lovely – I am envious!!
That passage seems to echo your stay and it mentions popular Persephones… I want to read it 🙂 I look forward to your thoughts on it. Enjoy the country house experience!
I can’t wait to read this one! The excerpt sounds wonderful. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts
Sounds like a guest room that I would love to visit!
I would think I’d died and gone to heaven. What a lovely quote, glad you went ahead and posted it.
How wonderful to have the Persephones listed! I must read my review copy soon…
Sounds so intriguing! Hope to hear more about it soon…
It’s hard to imagine a better choice of books to find – think on holiday I’d want to settle down with Miss Buncle, but Lady Rose was lovely too…
That’s enough for me to put it on my to-read list! I’ll keep a lookout, might not be published in the US for some time. Unfair!
Sounds wonderful.

How lucky that character is! The holiday cottages I’ve stayed in onlyever seem to have libraries of Mills & Boon novels. This sounds like a lovely book, although I really should read ‘Mr Rosenblum’s List’ before I put this on my own list.
