This week’s question posed by Wendi:
I know we have looked at the widgets section on Library Thing before, but it appears that Library Thing has added an all-new widget building page, with more options than ever, including the ability to customize your widget, chose colors, animate your books so they change every 5, 10, 15, etc seconds, add your Amazon Associates ID, have your widget show a portion of your review and/or your rating, and much more!!
You can visit the LT blog to learn even more with their Widgets Get a Lot Better post !! OR . . . you can run over and play with your widget now by going here !!
Do you have a LT widget on your blog? If so, what is your favorite thing about it? Have you had a chance to go see the all new widget building page, and if so, have you built a new widget? If so, what do you like about it?
My answer:
Have I seen the new widgets?
Yes, and they look great. I saw the blog post and then I took a look at the widget building page.
Do I have a widget?
No!
Why?
Because they don’t work on WordPress hosted blogs! 😦
So for now I’m keeping things simple – I just have a link in my sidebar!
Now that is a pretty good reason!
yes…that is a good reason. which is why I guess I am happy that I went with blogger when I started. Especially since it was a pretty random choice.
Oh, that’s sad! I love self-hosted WordPress, but I guess it makes sense that regular WordPress wouldn’t be as nice. How frustrating.
I use wordpress too and it can be frustrating with things like that. If the widgets are in html, you might be able to add it as a text widget.
I’ve got a WordPress blog that I don’t do much with. It always seems to be much more complicated than Blogger. But then, I’m extremely techno-challenged.
Wow – WordPress should get their act together and add widget functionality.
I’ve heard that a lot of people have problems with widgets on WordPress, and that only a very few work. 😦
Thanks for stopping by and participating in Thingers last week! I’ve got the post up for this week, have you re-styled Your Library lately? ~ Wendi
